Company overview

Life360 is a remote-first safety platform trusted by families around the world, with over 500 employees working across time zones and countries. As a company built around helping people stay connected and protected, supporting the wellbeing of its own distributed team was a natural extension of that mission, but with no central office, any wellbeing initiative had to work fully online and fit a fast-moving, always-on tech culture.

The challenge

Companies with a physical office can bring teams together for in-person wellbeing days. Remote-first companies like Life360 don't have that option, so wellbeing support often defaults to individual tools: an app, an EAP therapy line, a gym membership. Useful, but used alone. Nothing brought employees together to build a habit collectively, and without that shared moment, there was no healthy peer pressure driving people to actually show up and keep coming back.

No shared space

A remote-first team with no office moment to build wellbeing around.

02

Individual, not collective

Existing support, apps, EAP, gym access, was all solo, with no group habit to sustain it.

Prove it first

The solution

Life360's Mental Wellness ERG piloted three fully online Balance workshops during Mental Health Awareness Month, breathwork, meditation, and desk yoga, funding and promoting the sessions themselves to test engagement and impact before any bigger commitment. Participation was consistent, feedback was strong, and the stress-reduction data made the case clear. Central HR picked up funding for a 15-month partnership: monthly 30-minute online sessions, rotating through breathwork, meditation, gratitude journaling, and desk yoga, giving employees a recurring, collective reset built into the rhythm of the workday - something none of their existing individual tools could offer. Alongside the monthly cadence, Balance introduced masterclasses for key moments, including Performing Under Pressure, framing the same tools through a performan

From ERG to HR-backed

What started as a community-funded pilot is now a central HR-funded, 15-month program, now at its halfway point.

About the sessions

Every month, Life360 employees join a 30-minute live online session, rotating between four formats so there’s something for different moods and different weeks. Each one is built to be practical: no experience needed, no camera pressure, and easy to fit between meetings.

Breathwork

Guided group session for stress release and energy reset.

Meditation

Guided group session to quiet the mental noise and refocus.

Desk yoga

Quick stretches done right at the desk in work clothes.

Gratitude Journaling

A reflection to build a more positive mindset.

Masterclass: Performing Under Pressure

An expert-led masterclass that applies the same stress-regulation tools to high-pressure moments like deadlines and difficult conversations. It speaks the language of focus and performance, bringing in colleagues who wouldn’t sign up for a wellness session.

Why it worked

A shared, scheduled session gave remote employees something solo tools couldn't: a reason to show up together, and the healthy peer pressure that comes with it. Starting as an ERG-led pilot gave Life360 real engagement and stress-reduction data without asking central HR to commit upfront, so by the time HR took over funding, the case was already made. And pairing the wellness-led monthly sessions with performance-framed masterclasses widened who actually showed up, turning a grassroots reset into a program both the mindfulness-minded and the performance-minded teams wanted to join.
